Just wing it. Life, eyeliner, everything.
Life can be rough. With the excitement of a summer promotion behind us, dog days of summer upon us, the school year only days ahead of us, procrastination nation takes over. If you’re less than confident in your ability to create fierce eyeliner, then you’ve found yourself at the right place! Read on for makeup artist approved tips, tricks, and techniques for glammy eyeliner!
Before applying eyeliner, you must first pick the color. Of course, when picking the color, you should have a pretty good idea of the final look you’re going for. It may seem silly, but the basic technique knowing what look you want to achieve will make a major difference in how easily you get the look you want. Also, know this will help you pick the correct color to use.
Check it out:
- If you’re going for a strong, bold look, use a black colored liner.
- If you’re planning to create a subtle smoky eye, use a mocha colored liner.
- If you’re trying to make your eyes look bigger, use a white colored liner.
- If you’re wanting to brighten your natural eye color, use a charcoal colored liner.
- If you’re going for a striking and bold look, use a black colored liner.
Do you have a hard time keeping your liner in a smooth straight line as you pass along your lash line? There’s no shame here unless you’re a pro it can be difficult! Make things easier by drawing small dashes right along your lash line, then going back and connecting the lines. If you’re using liquid liner, start by making dots along your lash line then go back and connect the dots.
Have you spent endless what seems like endless hours trying to create symmetrical winged lines? Save yourself the frustration by having a Q-tip and liquid makeup remover at the ready. Go ahead and draw on your liner in a rough, messy line. Saturate the tip with the makeup remover, then clean up the extra liner on each eye to reveal perfect winged liner.
If you’re blessed with beautiful eyes, you’ve probably found yourself fed up only a few hours after applying your liner, because it works its way into the crease of your lid with every blink. The best technique to stop this for good is easier than you think. After you’ve applied your liner (and let it dry completely if it’s a liquid liner) use a blending brush to apply translucent powder to your lids. Your eyes will have that just-done look for hours!
On that note, we would like to end this post with a simple send off to all you Lionesse readers with a wish that your coffee is always hot and your eyeliner is always even.
