Here are ten tips to help you graduate from summer to fall in style!

  1. Moisturize your hair. Restore moisture to hair that might have been damaged from salty sea water, chlorinated pool water, damaging sun rays, rubber bands, and more frequent showering. Use a moisturizing mask specially formulated for your hair type, or try a do-it-yourself fix. Masks that feature avocado, olive oil, or coconut oil are popular.
  2. Prioritize your face. Exfoliate and treat skin that will have been damaged by too much sun exposure. Vitamin C—topical and oral—is believed to reverse the effects of sun damage and this is all due to its free-radical-fighting properties.
  3. Lip protection. Time outside can cause lips to become dry, cracked, and chapped. Use a gentle scrub or a designated ultra-soft toothbrush to exfoliate your lips, and add a moisturizing lip balm with an SPF of 30.
  4. Revive your skin. Exfoliate and moisturize the skin all over your body for a refreshed, glowing look.
  5. Fix your feet. After a summer of running around in sandals or barefoot, your feet may need some attention. Use a foot scrub and a moisturizer to encourage healthy skin. Gently slough off rough, dead skin from heels with a pumice stone or foot scrubber
  6. Sunscreen. Try lightening up your skincare routine by switching to a gel or liquid sunscreen. Why? “These products soak in faster and are less likely to leave you looking and feeling greasy,” Acne prone? Go oil-free to avoid clogging your more sensitive pores.
  7. Diet. What you eat matters to the appearance and health of your skin. Brush up on the facts, then tweak your diet accordingly. Don’t expect that taking a supplement will give you a “dietary bypass;” there’s no substitution for getting the vitamins, antioxidants, and fibre that you need for optimal skin health by eating a diet composed of whole foods, fruits, and veggies.
