Some things never change, except for in fashion

It seems as if the moment you made amends with your ‘80’s shell suit, it was the last thing anyone would be caught dead in. What about those ridiculously small “purses,” you know, like the one that you splurged on that wont even fit your iPhone6 Plus. I assure you, you can go get rid of that one – give it to a niece or donate it to your local thrift store, either way chances are more than likely that you will not miss it. And what about the straightjacket sleeved mini dresses that tried to make an appearance in the more recent years? I am not sure about anyone else, but I am still trying to forget all the miss haps that these dresses caused – thankfully, they have made they exit.

However, there is something to be said about the fashion trends that are more like seasoned veterans, rather than fresh newcomers. In fact, there are a handful of classic spring trends that were “cool” when you finishing up your senior year of high school, which are still “cool” today as your first-born finishes up college.

The spring trend hall of fame

These everlasting trends, that truly never go out of style, have given women confidence in the years past, and will remain to do so for generations to come. At this point, you may be mentally sifting through the clothes hanging in your closet, wondering which of your favorite pieces are for sure classic spring trends. Go ahead and keep reading to find out.

Oh, and by the way, it should go with out saying that well fitting jeans and a plain white tee shirt will always be trendy.

Here are five classic spring trends that have earned their return year after year:

#1: Floral patterns – the inspiration that Mother Nature has provided to artists and designers sense day one, will remain a classic spring trend for centuries to come.

#2: Animal Print – while you may have scrunched your face when your aunt trotted into your sweet sixteen party wearing a head to toe zebra outfit, you probably were not imaging that your favorite scarf (and peep toes… and TSA approved carry on) would one day be cheetah print. Ladies, it is no secret that the older you get, the more animal print you own. And one should not forget, some America’s classic sex symbols (like Marylyn Monroe) and top models (like Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, and Posh Spice) are featured in countless editorials, sporting the most beautiful animal print. Not to mention, have you seen the giraffe print bathing suites lately? They are to die for.

#3: Menswear (a.k.a. your favorite pair of boyfriend jeans) – shall we have a round of applause, or a moment of silence? That is, for all of the timeless menswear wardrobe pieces that Coco Chanel provided to our closet. In fact, Miss. Chanel herself popularized that cardigan, which you are most likely wearing right now.

#4: Jackie and Grace – Jackie Kennedy and Grace Kelly that is. These women are the everlasting spirit of all things “preppy,” “ladylike,” “East Coast” or whatever millennials are now calling the lavish and classy feminine look.

#5: Military chic – it is no secret that the women who lived through World War I and World War II turned out to be some of the most empowering and inspiring women in history. However, I doubt that those women who survived the Vietnam War days ever though that the camo jackets and cargo trousers that they wore in protest would become a staple in women’s wardrobes for generations to come.
