Japanese It-Girl Momoko Ogihara has been turning heads lately, so much so that she has even inspired a new makeup trend: Momoko makeup. For those who are unfamiliar with the trending makeup look, the Momoko makeup style is a specific way of applying bright pink blush much higher on the cheekbones, than one normally would; with Momoko makeup, the blush should actually be just about under the eyes. Beyond the blush, Momoko inspired makeup should also include pink eyeshadow and, of course, a sweet pink colored lip stain. It may sound like a pink-overload, but when snatching the It-Girls’ look correctly, the final outcome will produce a monochromatic makeup look, which is sweet and flirty and perfect for the summer season.
There are tons of Momoko makeup tutorials out there, but quite frankly, a lot of the tutorials make the look seem much harder to achieve than it really is. In the below tutorial, we’ve taken out all of the guesswork, giving you a step by step guide to the perfect Momoko Ogihara inspired look.
Step 1: As with any makeup look, it is essential that you begin the Momoko Ogihara inspired look with a freshly cleansed face. This particular look doesn’t involve layering product over product; rather it is a slightly more natural look. This means that you will want your natural complexion to need light to minimal coverage. You can be sure that your complexion looks its best all summer long by keeping hydrated, exfoliating on a regular basis, and applying sunscreen daily.
Step 2: Make sure that you’ve moisturized your skin after giving it a wash. Once the moisturizer has done its thing and your skin feels rather dry, apply a coat of your favorite high-quality BB or CC cream. If the initial coat of BB or CC cream has dried, and you notice that there are imperfections that you would like to have more coverage go ahead and use a small concealer brush to apply more product in a light dabbing motion.
Step 3: When your confident with your complexion, grab a light pink colored eyeshadow. Go for one that’s the color of a chilled rosé wine, or even a foggy baby pink. Use this color to cover the entire lid, even bringing it up and into the crease, being sure to fill in the inner and outer corners as well.
Step 4: Now, choose a lighter shadow color, go for a light peachy or golden crème color, or really any color that’s only a few shades darker than white. Use a skinny, pointy shadow brush to apply this color on the lower lid so that it is just under the lower lash line.
Step 5: Next, you will line the inner lash line (a.k.a. your waterline with a nude colored eyeliner. By lining your eyes with nude eyeliner you will give yourself that highly sought after wide-eyed look, as if you regularly get a full eight hours of sleep each night.
Step 6: Now, use a mocha colored eyeliner to line your upper outer lash line. You can either do a simple line or add a wing to the corner. Then, grab some mocha or black colored mascara, and show those lashes some love.
Step 7: Take some matte light pink blush and apply it above your cheekbones, so that it is just under the area that any tired-eye-bags might be. If you’re not totally sure where the blush should go, check out some pictures of Momoko.
Step 8: Finish the look with some flirty pink lip stain!
